FRIENDS OF NICH CHARITABLE FOUNDATION (NICH USA) is a US based 501(C)(3) registered charity to support the efforts of the National Institute of Child Health, Karachi, Pakistan, in achieving its goal of providing quality healthcare, to the pediatric population of Pakistan, free of cost.
The National Institute of Child Health (NICH) in Karachi, Pakistan is a 553-bed public sector pediatric hospital serving over 1 million patients annually. It is the only hospital providing 24-hour pediatric surgical emergency services to over 5 million children from newborn to 14 years of age within its reach with nearly 1,000 children visiting the OPD daily. It has the largest infant incubator facility as well as the largest pediatric ER in Pakistan. Some patients come from as far away as Baluchistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir.
Nearly 50% of the patients are from out of Karachi and have already depleted their resources by the time they reach the hospital. The NICH Trust was established to provide a reliable conduit for donors’ funds to be used in a legal, transparent and effective manner with the primary purpose of helping to alleviate the suffering of the poor that come to the hospital.
All treatment at the NICH is provided FREE OF COST. NICH is a cash-less facility i.e. there is no cash register in the hospital.
